Set in rural China where a young woman is sent to be a substitute teacher in a remote village where she must take charge of keeping the class intact or she will not be paid. The young girl is barely older than her students, yet faced with overwhelming family debt she has no option but to comply. Unfortunately her most troublesome student disappears to the city. Determined that her class should not let her down, the young teacher sets off to the city in search of him?
